NEOLITH BRINGS SOPHISTICATION AND COMFORT TO BRAZIL APARTMENTS

Sintered Stone from Neolith has helped to bring style and comfort to an apartment building in Brazil.

When architecture practice Carlos Rossi Arquitetura started conceptualising the common areas for V House, a residential building in the city of São Paulo, creating comfortable, accessible spaces was a prime consideration. They imagined fashionable and welcoming common areas, which would encourage interaction between residents, and individual apartments to provide essential private respite.

The architectural studio aimed to extend the concept of the home beyond each apartment door, into the corridors and throughout the rest of the block.

Instead of comprising narrow, compartmentalised sections, architect Carlos Rossi seized the opportunity to integrate the ground floor amenities through the use of a central thoroughfare.

Rossi commented: “Our goal was for the entrance and lobby to welcome people in the same way as in the world’s best hotels, evoking a true feeling of being at home in a cosy atmosphere.”

To achieve this comfortable and relaxed feel, Rossi specified 1,000 m2 of Neolith.
This included the swimming pool, which matches the sophistication of the other community spaces. Where once a functional but unattractive vinyl pool liner might have sufficed, the architect looked to an alternative, more durable material to create a striking aesthetic statement.

The name of the building, V House, inspired the central motif throughout the internal areas, which feature a bold chevron pattern.

Rossi selected a neutral blend of soft Neolith Basalt Beige, burnished Barro and luminous Arena for stunning contrast. The lighter hues amplify a sense of capaciousness to put residents at ease.

As residents traverse the corridors between the reception area, gallery and swimming pool, the Neolith floor will remain an eye-catching focal point and will continue to do so for years to come.

To achieve an elegant and high-quality interior, a seamless, compact design was paramount for Rossi. With small slabs, this would have been a challenge. Neolith’s large formats, however, offer designers greater potential to realise their creative concepts. V House was no exception.

As Rossi highlighted: “Neolith’s availability in large sizes, combined with the variety of finishes and colours, makes it a perfect choice for sophisticated settings. Such flexibility allows us to specify it in all areas of a building, whether inside, outside or even underwater.”
